For one thing a population of truly selfless beigns is a contradiction in terms, because if you really didn't give a fuck about yourself, you'd lay around and stop eating and die. How does the government set the value exactly? How do they know what something is worth to each and every individual member of the nation? It is impossible to "do communism properly" I challenge you to come up with a working model. Russia was prosperous until it got taken over by Neo-Mercantilists who thought they knew better than the people how to think, how to work and how to live. She said the phrase on everyone's lips was "What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine." That's the essence of Communism. Who would bother to produce anything in such a system? If the factory made it, and the truck driver took it away and had use for it he'd just keep it until someone else took it.
